Five steps to maintain your savings account charge less and profitable

Savings account designed for individuals to meet their personal savingsrequirements, to pay regular expenses like telephone bills, electricity etc, and for the purpose of saving some amount for the benefit of getting interest, and liquidity. Here are some tips for keeping savings account saver, and pay less charge to banker.

  1.  For Savings account, banks will consider only 10 th to last day of the month for interest calculation. the reason is that 1 to 9 is the period of maximum inflow of fund through salary and maximum withdrawal for payment. So keep as much as you can in your savings account after 9th till month end to get maximum interest.
  2. Every bank has fixed the number of transactions can be done through an SB account. if you cross the transaction limit bank may charge you. so ask your banker how many transactions are allowed in a month and make sure you will not crossing the limit.
  3. Most savings accounts except zero balance account have minimum balance. or you should maintain average balance for a period, for example 3 months. Make sure that your minimum balance is not come down the limit. if you are not maintaining minimum or average balance bank will charge you as penalty or will not give you interest.
  4. Some people are miss-using sb account by the way routing their business transactions through it. hence some banks are charging for cheque books to reduce transactions. If you are operating your account within the guidelines, some banks will issue cheque book for free.
  5. Banks are providing quarterly statement for free. Keep it safe in a file for future reference and will not have to request statement again. requesting same statement again may charge you. Monthly statement also is chargeable, those who opting monthly statement request it through email which is not chargeable.
