Being a commerce graduate you have plenty of options to choose. To become a good sales person or marketing executive is a good decision. The decision to become an accountant increases your chances to get placed in an organization. Because trained accountant professional is highly demanded in every industry. Accounting is a profession that concerns itself with day- to-day operations of a company. Accountants balance the books, track expenses and revenue, execute payroll, and pay the bills. Issues related to mobilizing capital, fund raising, budgeting financial projections etc.
As already mentioned trained professionals are highly demanded. Since you are a fresher it is difficult to get a job in accounting because it’s a skilled profession. What is the solution? What I would suggest is don’t even think about big money for a smaller period ,At least six months then start searching a small firm, shops who cannot offer you a big salary but can give you an accounting job. Start from there doesn’t be afraid of anything; the great resources available in such places are its old books of account. Refer these old books or last month books of accounts it self, check and learn how the previous accountant had done everything. Most of the expenses are repeated monthly or weekly basis. Study each and every document filed, you will get some ideas from it about your work. It is advised that to keep a close relationship with an experienced accountant you know and consult with him when you have any doubt. Don’t hesitate to ask your manager or somebody that you feel he knows what you want to know. Or otherwise search for an assistant accountant job which will be easy for you to learn as there will be your senior to guide you. It will be better if you could work under a chattered accountant for a few months that will increase your demand in accounting job market as you are aware of the statutory complaints and taxes.
I have read in a news paper that an M.com rank holder is riding auto (a kind of small taxi) for his livelihood he says he didn’t get any job. In that interview I remember he was complaining about current competitive job market. While reading this interview I felt that he was a brilliant student but he hasn’t got self confidence. It is sure that he did not have tried for a job. Nobody will get you a job at the place where you sit. You may be a rank holder or passed with third class. People might say there is no use of graduation certificate, don’t bother about people, if you want a job you should try and trying hard. Definitely you will get a job if you have a strong will. When it comes on to practical the most successful professionals are not always rank holders. This can be proved if you check your classmates. Learning and performing are different. Take a strong decision that you will not rest until you catch a job. Go for each and every interview available in your place. Don’t bother about your failure. Bring energy from each failure. Climb each step carefully and get on top wish you all the success.
